Amanda Webster was born in Kalgoorlie, where her father and his father before him were doctors. She attended school with Aboriginal children from the local Kurrawang mission. After an early career in medicine, Webster earned an MFA in creative writing. She has published essays in several literary journals. Her first book was The Boy Who Loved Apples. A Tear in the Soul is her second book.
